01
Business challenge
The business ran a complete industrial service operation on fragmented and largely manual workflows. Job information sat apart from customer records, engineering activity and aftercare, so operational data could not be read as one picture. The public digital presence described a narrow slice of the capability rather than the full service operation, which limited both commercial visibility and the ability to plan with evidence.
02
Transformation remit
- I lead a business-wide digital transformation programme across marketing, operations, customer experience, data and e-commerce.
- I rebuilt the corporate digital platform and service architecture.
- I analysed more than 40,000 historical repair job records to identify patterns and shape commercial and content priorities.
- I designed a connected cloud Repair Job Management System and customer portal, covering site-based customer accounts, collection requests with photographs, parts-supply requests, emergency repair workflows, driver and engineer workflows, one-year warranty tracking, engineer performance visibility, and role-based access and security.
- I developed a phased e-commerce roadmap for spare parts and repeatable services.
- I work across engineering, operations, commercial and IT stakeholders to keep the programme aligned to the business.
Evidence
The connected operating model
The designed model links the commercial front end to the service operation and back again, so each stage passes information to the next.
- Step 1
Enquiry & acquisition
The rebuilt website and service-page architecture give each capability a clear home, informed by more than 40,000 historical job records.
- Step 2
Job intake & logistics
Site-based customer accounts, collection requests with photographs and emergency repair workflows, with driver workflows behind them.
- Step 3
Engineering workflow
Engineer workflows, parts-supply requests and engineer performance visibility inside one designed system.
- Step 4
Customer visibility & warranty
A customer portal covering job status and one-year warranty tracking, with role-based access and security throughout.
- Step 5
Parts and e-commerce
A phased roadmap for selling spare parts and repeatable services online, sequenced after the operating model.
03
Delivery and governance
- Stakeholder discovery across engineering, operations, commercial and IT to establish how the work actually runs.
- Workflow mapping of job intake, logistics, engineering activity, warranty and aftercare.
- Requirements definition for the Repair Job Management System and customer portal, written in business language before technical detail.
- Modular role design, with role-based access and security applied to customers, drivers, engineers and internal teams.
- Phased delivery, so the website and content architecture proceed while the platform and e-commerce stages are sequenced behind them.
04
Business value
- A connected transformation blueprint that describes one digital operating model rather than separate tools.
- A clearer customer experience, with site-based accounts, collection requests and warranty status designed into a single portal.
- Stronger operational visibility across job intake, engineering workflow and aftercare.
- Data-led prioritisation, grounded in more than 40,000 historical job records rather than assumption.
- A scalable base for digital commerce, through a phased roadmap for spare parts and repeatable services.
